St. Enda’s Partnership of Parishes: You will probably have noticed, on our Parish Newsletter, the mention of St. Enda’s Partnership of Parishes. This is a development that has arisen out of the Building Hope programme with which you will be familiar. With decreasing numbers of priests and decreasing congregations in our parishes in Dublin, the diocese has been encouraging parishes to get better at working together. Ballyboden is in a partnership group with Ballyroan, Churchtown, Knocklyon, Marley Grange and Rathfarnham. The parish priests, together with the chairpersons of the Parish Pastoral Councils, meet monthly and have been exploring possibilities for cooperation between the parishes. A number of suggestions have been made in this regard. Next month, for example, the choirs of each of the parishes have been invited to take part in a concert to which we are all invited. The concert will take place on the 21st of March. It will be hosted by Churchtown Parish and will begin at 7.30pm – it is expected to last approximately one hour. All are welcome and entrance is free. We will keep you up to date on other events as they arise.
Confirmation:The children of Scoil Mhuire will be receiving the sacrament of Confirmation in our parish church on 22nd March at 11am. This is an important event in the life of our parish. Please keep the children in your prayers over these weeks.
Lenten Talks: We have planned a series of very interesting talks for Lent this year. Each of the four talks will take place after the Saturday evening mass and all are welcome. 8th March: Peter McVerry SJ on the Housing Crisis; 15th March: Siobhan McNamara on the Parish as an Oasis; 22nd March: Keith Adams on what Justice means; 29th March: Keith Hargaden on why social justice is intrinsic to the Easter message.
Welcome to the website of the Parish of Ballyboden. We hope you will find the information and guidance you are seeking on our parish and its services. The website provides general information on the parish and on the Augustinians who minister here. The Weekly Sunday Message (newsletter) gives updates on current events. Details are provided on Church services, including Mass times and on the other sacraments. Many visit the site regularly to read and reflect on the Sunday and Daily scripture readings for Mass, and for the prayers to Our Lady of Good Counsel, to whom the parish is dedicated. Many parishioners participate voluntarily in a range of Church related groups and activities which greatly help to make for a warm, dedicated, vibrant parish community. Details on these are also provided and we urge you to consider getting involved. We are always keen to improve and develop the Website. So if you discover that necessary information is missing, or needs to be updated, please let us know through our email address This email address is being protected from spambots. Parish Pastoral Council
Parish, for us, is a community of believers in Jesus, open and welcoming, using our various gifts and talents to nurture and promote truth, justice, love and peace and to experience and advance the Kingdom of God.
This ideal will be realized through: prayer, belonging, commitment, teamwork, integrity, sharing, inclusion.
In the words of St Augustine:
In essential things, unity.
In doubtful things, liberty,
In all things, charity
